The White House announced Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Boston later this month to attend the NAACP national convention.
According to a White House statement, Harris “will maintain her whirlwind travel across the country in July and August,” including stops in Florida, Illinois, and Indiana in addition to her visit to Massachusetts.
According to the release, the vice president will be in Boston on July 29.
The NAACP’s annual convention is set to take place in South Boston from July 26 to August 1 and is expected to bring in more than $10 million.
Boston had been chosen twice previously to host the convention, once in 1911 and again in 2020 — but the 2020 in-person convention was cancelled and transferred online because to the COVID-19 pandemic.
