Tinubu writes to Reps, requesting N500 billion for palliatives.

President Bola Tinubu has requested the House of Representatives to approve N500 billion in palliatives to offset the impact of the elimination of gasoline subsidies.
The president asked N500 billion from the 2022 supplementary budget in a letter read by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas on Wednesday.
It should be noted that Nigeria is still executing the N819 billion supplementary budget passed in December 2022.
“I am writing to request that the 2022 supplementary appropriation act be amended in accordance with the attached.” The request has become necessary in order to, among other things, acquire cash to give palliatives to Nigerians as a result of the recent elimination of fuel subsidies.
“As a result, N500 billion has been extracted from the N819 billion supplementary budget for 2022 for the provision of palliative care.” “I hope the House will consider this request as soon as possible,” he said.
