The NDLEA apprehends 163 drug suspects in Lagos.

Between January and May 2023, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Seme Special Area Command, Badagry, arrested 163 suspected drug dealers. This was revealed by the Command on Friday.
Mr Abubakar Wada, Zonal Commander, NDLEA, Seme Special Area Command, made the announcement during a news conference in Badagry.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the briefing was organized to commemorate the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking in 2023.
According to the commander, there are 139 males and 24 females among the suspects.
He also stated that the command confiscated various illicit narcotics weighing 354.6286kgs within the time period.
“The command also counseled 138 drug users,” he stated.
During that time, he added, the command secured the convictions of 25 narcotics criminals.
Cannabis, tramadol, methamphetamine, diazepam, and codeine were among the drugs regularly abused in the zone, according to Wada.
The commander urged the government, community leaders, religious leaders, and citizens to help the NDLEA in combating drug usage in society.
Wada stated that the agency was also partnering with security agencies and non-governmental organizations to organize drug misuse prevention programs.
