Niger Coup and Border Security: Tinubu, Ribadu Meet Governor Radda, 4 Other Govs

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, together with the Governors of Yobe, Sokoto, Jigawa and Kebbi States, on Saturday held a ‘Strategic meeting’ with Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, NSA at the Katsina State Governors Lodge Abuja.
This is just as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday evening also met with Governor Radda, and the four aforementioned Governors, whose States are sharing boundaries with Niger Republic.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, was part of consultations by Tinubu on the situation in Niger.Before meeting Mr.President, the five governors had a brief meeting with the Chief of Staff,Hon Femi Gbajabiamila in his office.
Meanwhile, a statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the spokesperson to Governor Radda, disclosed that the ‘strategic meeting’, which was at the behest of Ribadu, was convened to brief the Governors on the situation of the Niger coup, and its implication for Nigeria.
According to Kaula Mohammed’s statement, the NSA also informed Dikko Radda and his colleague-Governors of the proactive measures put in place by the Federal Government, and how the border states can handle any eventuality emanating from the crises.
In attendance at the first meeting with the NSA on Saturday was the Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, Alh. Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, who is also the Governor of Kwara State, and Governors Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State and Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State.
