Victor Hugo Sosa, Mayor of Southern Mexico, took part in a one-of-a-kind celebration in the community of San Pedro Huamelula. Sosa symbolically married a female lizard named Alicia Adriana in a traditional rite meant to bring good fortune to the community, as reported by AFP on Sunday. Mexican Mayor Weds a Female Reptile.
The Indigenous Chontal people watched the Mayor perform an ancestral ritual amidst ecstatic cheers and celebratory dances from bystanders.
Sosa stated his dedication, saying, “I accept responsibility because we love each other.” That is all that matters. A marriage cannot exist without love… “I agree to marry the princess girl.”
