JUST IN: Shettima is leaving Abuja to represent Tinubu at the World Food Summit in Rome and Russia.

Kashim Shettima, Vice President, has left Abuja to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at two key international summits in Rome, Italy, and St Petersburg, Russia.
Olusola Abiola, Director of Information in the Vice President’s Office, announced this in Abuja on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
According to Abiola, Shettima will attend the first Stocktaking Moment (STM) Summit, “Transforming Food Systems for People, Planet, and Prosperity,” from Monday, July 24 to Wednesday, July 26 in Rome
Shettima, he said, would chair a high-level session at the summit titled “Innovative Financing for Food System Transformation: the Case of Nigeria.”
He went on to say that the side event, themed “Scaling up Multi Stakeholder Collaboration and Investment in the Implementation of Food Systems Transformation Pathways in Nigeria,” would be held.
Abiola also stated that the event is being organised in collaboration with the UN Agencies based in Rome, including the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Food Programme (WFP), as well as the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the larger UN system.
“Shettima will then travel from Rome to St. Petersburg, Russia, to represent the President at the Russia-Africa Summit, which is scheduled to take place from July 26 to July 29.”
“While in Russia, the Vice President will attend the 2nd Russia-Africa Summit and the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, which will focus on strategizing to improve relations between Russia and the African continent, among other things.”
