Immigration promotes 7,000 personnel

The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has elevated 7000 people to the next level of their careers.

According to Mr Kenneth Kure, the Service’s Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO), the promotion was contained in a letter signed by the Secretary of the Immigration, Civil Defense, Correctional, and Fire Service Board, Alhaji Jafaru Ahmed.

According to the announcement, the promoted officers include junior officers who were promoted as a result of obtaining additional credentials and senior officers who took regular exams.

Kure, who was also promoted to Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, thanked God for the elevation.

The statement further stated that Wuraola Adepoju, the Ag Comptroller General of NIS, has redeployed 12 Comptrollers to various states, including the FCT, Kano, Jigawa, Ondo, Ogun, and Mfum Border Control, among others.

According to the statement, she approved the appointment of former Service spokesman Tony Akuneme as Comptroller of the FCT Command, while Comptroller Joseph Dada becomes the new Principal Staff Officer to the Comptroller General.

The CGIS charged officers and men of the Service at their monthly march to prioritize the image of the job over personal interests.

She promised to promote employee wellbeing and that promotion would no longer be based solely on seniority.
