According to NDTV, a couple in India sold their eight-month-old kid to buy an iPhone 14 so they could record Instagram Reels.
Jaydev Ghosh and Sathi, the pair, are from West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. They have a seven-year-old daughter as well.
According to sources, Ghosh and Sathi wanted to acquire a high-end phone and decided on the latest Apple model.
The cops retrieved the kid from a resident called Priyanka Ghosh, who had paid money for the child. She resided in the same neighbourhood.
The baby’s mother and the woman have been arrested, but the father is on the run. The cops are looking for him.
During the interview, Sathi admitted to the crime, stating she and her husband traded their kid for the phone so they could make videos for Instagram on their journeys across the state.
According to the investigators, the father attempted to sell his daughter as well, but the plot did not work out.
According to the neighbour, the couple sold their infant boy for INR200,000.
“They used the money to travel to many places, including Digha Sea Beach, for their honeymoon.” “They even purchased a mobile,” Laxmi Kundu was reported as adding.
